      Forklift Training Sydney

For those who are in the field of warehousing, attaining a Sydney forklift license is important. This license is required for workers who need to operate a forklift in their work area.

Forklift operation is considered as a very risky occupation which is why governments have presented specific requirements in order for operators to acquire a forklift license.

An important prerequisite is that, as an operator, you need to undergo a complete course of forklift training which are conducted by registered forklift assessors and trainers. Such professors are asked to handle the training so as to ensure that students learn how to operate the machine with safety and competence.

Another requirement for the license is that students should be at least eighteen years old and above. However, there are exemptions for some circumstances. Age is not the only requirement.

It is also crucial that students who want to have a forklift license should understand basic English along with writing and reading skills. Today, Worksafe does not define this requirement but only requires students to fully understand instructions given by assessors and trainers.

Along with completing a  Sydney forklift training course a forklift license assessment is also required. Today, the training already comprises both theory and practical training.

The first module is based on theory. In this module students are expected to go through a certain study guide with a trainer. This way the student can understand information about pre and post checks before and after forklift operation as well as forklift driver safety.

Once theory training is completed, students are tasked to complete the practical training part. This includes actual pre and post operational checks, shut down procedures, and load shifting. When this part of the training is complete, a practical test will be conducted by a certified forklift assessor. The assessor evaluates if the student is already competent enough to safely operate the forklift.

During the full completion of the forklift license assessment, students will get a Notice of Assessment or NOA from the forklift assessor. This is used for the actual license application. It can also be used to temporarily operate a forklift for sixty days.
